helping the community

Important Announcement

Dear Supporters,

I am writing to share with you an important forthcoming change to the operation of The Walk Centre UK charity, which you have so generously supported over the years.

After much reflection, the Chair and Trustees have agreed on a plan that we believe is in the best interests of the Walk Academy (formerly The Walk Children’s Church) in Nakuru, Kenya. This plan will ensure the continued growth and sustainability of their invaluable work.

At the end of February 2026, The Walk Centre UK will be dissolved, and the balance of funds will be transferred to the African Adventures Foundation. This organisation’s aims and objectives are directly aligned with ours, and they have a deep understanding of the needs of the children and community.

The African Adventures Foundation has been closely connected with the Walk Academy for many years. Their experience and resources—both in the UK and in Kenya—place them in a strong position to carry forward and expand the mission we have shared.

Since its founding in 2009, The Walk Centre UK has been dedicated to supporting the Walk Academy. With your generosity, the Academy has grown from just 50 students to more than 500, ensuring that every child has access to regular meals, clothing, basic medical care, and education. Your support has also reached beyond the classroom: grants have provided sewing machines, labouring tools, and vital resources that have helped families learn new skills and withstand challenges such as adverse weather, political unrest, and the COVID pandemic.

Together, over the past 16 years, we have raised over £430,000. This achievement has transformed countless lives, and the Trustees of The Walk Centre UK are profoundly grateful for the legacy we have built with you. As we now bring The Walk Centre UK to a close, we are delighted to know that this legacy will continue under the stewardship of the African Adventures Foundation. We are confident that the values and impact you have helped create will live on and flourish in their care. From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for walking this journey with us.

Since 2013, the African Adventures Foundation, a UK-based charity, has been transforming lives in Ghana, Kenya, and Zanzibar by supporting schools in developing communities. Through their food programmes, they provide 1,300 children with two nutritious meals every day. They fund vital building projects—from classrooms and kitchens to toilets and clean water systems—while improving hygiene standards and educating children on menstrual health. By supplying essential classroom resources and kitchen equipment, they ensure that every child has the tools to learn, grow, and thrive.

With gratitude and hope for the future,

The Trustees of The Walk Centre UK
